SureMount® 42″–65″ Motorised Fold-Down TV Ceiling Mount – 50 kg (SMFDC50)
The SureMount® SMFDC50 Motorised Fold-Down TV Ceiling Mount is a heavy-duty, space-saving solution that allows your TV to fold neatly towards the ceiling when not in use and lower into position when you’re ready to watch.
Designed for 42″–65″ TVs up to 50 kg, the SMFDC50 is ideal for larger TVs in homes, apartments, motorhomes, caravans, tiny homes, bedrooms, offices, conference rooms and other spaces where conventional wall mounting isn’t practical.
At the heart of the SMFDC50 is a powerful actuator-driven motorised mechanism. Unlike a belt-driven system, the actuator provides direct, controlled movement without relying on a drive belt that can stretch or slip over time. This makes it particularly well suited to the additional weight of medium-to-large TVs.
The TV can be positioned anywhere through its 0°–85° operating range, allowing you to choose the viewing angle that best suits the room before folding the screen back towards the ceiling when it isn’t required.
A versatile ceiling mounting arrangement allows installation on flat or sloped ceilings, opening up installation possibilities in rooms with pitched ceilings and other unconventional spaces.
Operation is simple using the included wireless remote control or onboard control panel, while the integrated collision-avoidance system helps protect the TV and surrounding objects if resistance is detected during movement.

🔧 Important TV Fitment Check
TV screen size alone does not determine compatibility with a fold-down ceiling mount.
Before installation, check:
- TV weight: Maximum 50 kg
- VESA pattern: Must fall within the supported 200×200 to 600×600 mm range
- TV dimensions and VESA-hole position: The position of the mounting holes on the rear of the TV needs to provide sufficient clearance between the television and ceiling throughout the folding movement.
This final check is particularly important with larger TVs. Two TVs with the same advertised screen size can have different overall dimensions and very different VESA mounting-hole positions.
42″–65″ remains the recommended screen-size range.
If you’re unsure whether your TV will fit, send us the TV make and model and we can help check compatibility before ordering.

❓ FAQs — SureMount® SMFDC50 Motorised Fold-Down TV Ceiling Mount
1️⃣ How do I know if the SMFDC50 will fit my TV?
There are several important things to check rather than relying on screen size alone.
Weight: Your TV must weigh 50 kg or less.
VESA: The TV’s mounting-hole pattern must fall within the supported 200×200 to 600×600 mm range.
TV dimensions and mounting-hole position: The TV needs sufficient clearance from the ceiling throughout the folding movement. The position of the VESA mounting holes on the back of the television therefore also needs to be considered.
If you’re unsure, send us your TV make and model and we can help check compatibility.
2️⃣ Can the SMFDC50 be installed on a sloped ceiling?
Yes. The mounting arrangement allows the SMFDC50 to be installed on flat, angled or sloped ceilings.
This makes it particularly useful in architectural homes, motorhomes, caravans, lofts and other spaces with pitched ceilings.
3️⃣ Why does the SMFDC50 use an actuator rather than a belt-drive system?
The actuator provides direct, controlled movement without relying on a drive belt.
This eliminates the potential for a belt to stretch or slip over time and provides a strong drive system suited to larger TVs.
4️⃣ Why is the 50 kg weight limit important?
The television must remain within the mount’s rated 50 kg maximum load.
Staying within the rated capacity helps ensure:
- Smooth movement
- Reduced load on the actuator
- Consistent operation
- Long-term reliability
Always check the actual weight of the television before installation.
5️⃣ What is the movement range of the SMFDC50?
The mount operates through a 0°–85° range.
This allows the television to move from its stored position towards an almost vertical viewing position.
6️⃣ Can I stop the TV part-way down?
Yes. The TV doesn’t need to be either fully stored or fully lowered.
You can stop the mount within its 0°–85° operating range, allowing the viewing position to be adjusted to suit the room and installation.
7️⃣ Can I save preset viewing positions?
Yes. The current SMFDC50 does have programmable memory positions.
The TV can still be stopped at the desired position using the controls.
8️⃣ What happens if the TV hits something while moving?
The SMFDC50 incorporates a collision-avoidance system designed to detect resistance during movement.
If the television encounters an obstruction, the system helps stop the movement to protect the TV, mount and surrounding objects.
Collision avoidance should not replace keeping the operating area clear whenever the mount is being raised or lowered.
9️⃣ Can I operate the SMFDC50 without the remote?
Yes. The SMFDC50 includes an onboard control panel as well as the wireless remote control.
The control panel can also be removed after setup if it isn’t required for everyday operation.
🔟 How close does the TV sit to the ceiling when folded away?
The mounting mechanism has a folded depth of approximately 125–130 mm.
The final position of the television will also depend on the thickness of the TV, its dimensions and the position of its VESA mounting holes.
1️⃣1️⃣ Will a TV larger than 65″ fit the SMFDC50?
A TV larger than 65″ is outside the recommended 42″–65″ screen-size range.
Screen size by itself, however, doesn’t determine physical compatibility. Weight, VESA pattern, overall TV dimensions and VESA-hole position all affect whether a television can be safely accommodated.
For TVs outside the recommended size range, send us the make and model so compatibility can be checked before ordering.
1️⃣2️⃣ What comes with the SMFDC50?
The package includes the motorised fold-down ceiling mount assembly, wireless remote control, onboard control panel, power supply, TV/VESA mounting hardware and installation instructions.
