Frequently Asked Questions:
Is it safe to wall mount a TV above a fireplace?
A well placed mantel can act as a buffer to deflect heat away from a TV mounted above a fireplace. It is always important to refer to the owners manual of your TV before choosing to mount it above a fireplace.
Check out the informative video at Better Homes and Gardens for more handy tips: https://www.bhg.com/decorating/fireplace/styles/tv-over-fireplace/
How far above a fireplace can a TV be mounted?
As a rule of thumb a TV should be at least 300mm above a modern gas fireplace. It is important to measure how hot it gets above your fireplace as each TV and each fireplace will be different. Refer to the owners manual of your TV for guidance on heat limits to ensure that your electronics (and plastic) are not adversely impacted.
Will my TV cover the TV mount?
A 65″ TV is likely to cover the mount fully so that it won’t be seen in the up or down position.

R M Fleck (verified owner) –
We purchased this as we wanted the pull down arm feature, as we were mounting our new 65 inch Bravia TV over the fire place. Shipment was relatively quick and the product was as indicated. The arm function works well and the TV goes back up nicely. Few things to note – if you are mounting over a fireplace/heater – check the height of the TV while in the shop. This will affect placement on the wall above the fireplace, particularly as your TV may end up hitting the ceiling if you haven’t taken this into account. The another thing to be mindful of is the bottom mounting bracket. Those looking for a more “aesthetic look” may not like the fact that this bracket is visible when the TV is pushed back up against the wall. This wasn’t an issue for us – but others may want to consider a sound bar to mount under the TV to hide the bracket. Also check there is sufficient blocking in the wall to hold the TV and the mount, especially if you will be moving it a lot. And one final thing – if you are not installing this yourself and getting a third party to do it- check they know what they are installing, as the our installers got very antsy when trying to work out how it all went together as they had only installed the swing out arm type of wall bracket.
