How far above a fireplace can a TV be mounted?
As a rule of thumb a TV should be at least 300mm above a modern gas fireplace. It is important to measure how hot it gets above your fireplace as each TV and each fireplace will be different. Refer to the owners manual of your TV for guidance on heat limits to ensure that your electronics (and plastic) are not adversely impacted.
Will my TV cover the TV mount?
A 65″ TV is likely to cover the mount fully so that it won’t be seen in the up or down position.

Have had our mount up for a few weeks now. We ran into some issues putting it up, but these were mainly with our studs/wall, rather than with the mount. I will say that even with a big 65″ TV, the mount is not covered while in the upright position (and we’ve made adjustments to try covering as much as possible). So just go into it knowing that you’re likely to see the mount.
Ultimately decided on 5 stars because the mount is currently working well and the shipping & service from the Suremount team has been 6 stars–very impressively run operation. Thanks for everything! Cheers, from Welly.
