SureMount 55″–80″ Above Fireplace TV Mount (SMF800)
The SureMount® SMF800 55″–80″ Above Fireplace TV Mount is engineered to deliver comfortable, eye-level viewing from a position that would normally be too high for everyday use. Perfect for installations above a fireplace or mantel, this mount uses a powerful gas-strut counterbalanced arm to smoothly lower your TV up to 730 mm, bringing the screen down to a natural seated viewing height — and then lifting it back up when not in use.
The mount supports TVs between 25–60 kg and offers a full-motion experience with 30° swivel left and right, allowing easy glare reduction and better visibility from different seating positions. A 230 mm height-stop adjustment prevents the TV from hitting the mantel during use, while the included cable-management system keeps wiring tidy as the TV moves.
With a universal VESA range from 100×100 mm to 800×500 mm, this fireplace mount suits a wide range of large TVs. The SMF800 (for 25–60 kg TVs) is the ideal solution when your setup demands comfort, flexibility, and a premium feel.

FAQ’s — SureMount 55″–80″ Above Fireplace TV Mount (SMF800)
1️⃣ Is it safe to mount a TV above a fireplace?
It can be — provided your fireplace does not exceed the heat limits recommended by your TV manufacturer.
A mantel can help deflect heat away from the TV, but you must check:
-
How hot the wall becomes during use
-
Your TV manufacturer’s heat-tolerance guidance
-
Ventilation around your installation
For tips, see the Better Homes & Gardens guide:

2️⃣ How far above a fireplace can a TV be mounted?
A general rule is at least 300 mm above a modern gas fireplace, but every fireplace and TV model is different.
Measure the heat at your intended mounting height and ensure it falls within your TV’s thermal limits.
3️⃣ Will my TV cover the mount?
Some 65″–80″ TVs will fully cover the mount in the up or down position, provided their VESA pattern is centrally located.
Example of a 55″ TV below shows portions of the mount depending on the hole placement.

This mount is ideal for 25–60 kg TVs.
If your TV is lighter than 25 kg, consider the SureMount SMF600 — designed specifically for lighter screens.

Yes — the mount offers:
-
30° swivel left and right
-

We purchased this as we wanted the pull down arm feature, as we were mounting our new 65 inch Bravia TV over the fire place. Shipment was relatively quick and the product was as indicated. The arm function works well and the TV goes back up nicely. Few things to note – if you are mounting over a fireplace/heater – check the height of the TV while in the shop. This will affect placement on the wall above the fireplace, particularly as your TV may end up hitting the ceiling if you haven’t taken this into account. The another thing to be mindful of is the bottom mounting bracket. Those looking for a more “aesthetic look” may not like the fact that this bracket is visible when the TV is pushed back up against the wall. This wasn’t an issue for us – but others may want to consider a sound bar to mount under the TV to hide the bracket. Also check there is sufficient blocking in the wall to hold the TV and the mount, especially if you will be moving it a lot. And one final thing – if you are not installing this yourself and getting a third party to do it- check they know what they are installing, as the our installers got very antsy when trying to work out how it all went together as they had only installed the swing out arm type of wall bracket.
